Fiber Optics High Speed Internet

CLICK HERE TO SIGN UPAs early as the end of November, Grimshaw residents will begin to enjoy high-speed fiber optics internet. Northern Lights Fiber is taking a “light as you go” approach to get residents connected which means that once the lines and infrastructure that send the data to homes is finished being installed, NLF customers can begin enjoying the service.

The NLF construction crew is working on installing the main fiber optic line and recently started on the lines that run from the main line to the residences.

“It’s important that residents know that they need to call Northern Lights Fiber to request the line to be installed to their home,” says Brian Allen, Town of Grimshaw CAO. “ Having the infrastructure installed to the home is free now, but it won’t always be, and, there is no obligation to sign a contract with Northern Light Fiber.”

For those interested in signing up, note that NLF is offering three months free for anyone who signs a contract before the end of November. They have several packages, discounted rates for seniors, and various options for businesses big and small. Information on packages, discounts and incentives can be found on lightupgrimshawab.ca and you can contact a representative by calling 1-888-236-2947 or by using the live chat on the website.

NLF’s goal is to have everyone up and running by the end of 2023. Several crews are working on completing the installation, and NLF thanks the community for its support and patience.

“The community has been awesome to work with,” says Jodi Bloomer-Kaput, Co-founder and president of Northern Lights Fiber.  “We know the construction is messy, and we want residents to know that we appreciate their support and patience. Our goal is to have as little of an impact on property as possible. They can expect us to come back in the spring to put seed down and repack the earth - we take remediation very seriously and have dedicated resources and people to do it.”

Northern Lights Fiber is a locally developed company that provides fiber optics high-speed internet to rural communities. High Prairie, Grande Cache, Beaverlodge, Wembley, Fairview and Sexmith are examples of some nearby communities NLF serves. Their parent company is Canadian Fiber Optics and their head office is located in Calgary. A locally-based technician will provide Technical Support for residents who subscribe to the service.

NLF is actively involved in the community by sponsoring the women’s Grimshaw Huskies hockey team, free family skates every Sunday afternoon, the Grimshaw Community Christmas Light-Up Contest, and by participating in the annual Festival of Trees.
